Yes--been in education since the 1960's. The dumbing down is most obvious and a huge danger to the future of our country.

Why are so many people so mean, cynical and triggered in this? There are thousands of people in the education world as a whole that do excellent work and we are all better for it. It's ongoing. Trump really has convinced his devotees that American is trash and he will make it great. It's already great. We just need to stop people like him for convincing people like in this forum to be so polarized and mad when people disagree with you

No dimwit, Trump has not “convinced” us that America is “trash.” He, and we who support him, believe America is “resting on one’s laurels.” You’re probably too young to have heard that phrase. Your communications are not well reasoned or suggestive of experience or leadership.

The DOE was not in existence until I graduated from college. It’s hard to wrap my head around the federal government making education viable in local districts (which my Dad did for 30 years). He knew the Principals, Teachers, and the Students, and chose the curriculum. It’s doable.

All the metrics on educational outcomes say otherwise. Literacy has declined sharply along with other knowledge learning. Calling people mean who say things you don’t like is not an argument. Analyze the causes, don’t just dismiss anecdotally.
