You should be at 10 million readers! I’ve been following you since you started sounding the alarm on critical race theory and then as you continued to report and help change policies across this country working with legislators, policy makers, education administrators and even going so far as to recapturing a university. I expect plenty more from you and I pray that this new administration taps you as an advisor to help shape our country into one we can all be proud of free from racism, Marxism and woke ideology.
I did not know about any of it. I was busy very happily raising my children and loving my country. It wasn't until I started seeing weird stuff going on in my daughter's school that I started to catch on. I had no idea there were people in our country, in our government, in our institutions who were Marxists and hated our country and our history and wanted to tear it down. When I started noticing, people, especially Christopher Rufo, helped explain what was going on and provided historical context. I'm thankful to him. He's a man for our time.
So, what is your point? I’m 78 years of age and my father a World War II veteran worked post war as a military cartographer preparing for war with the Soviet Union. I’m a Vietnam veteran and fought against the communist in Vietnam. I remember having drills in elementary school, where we would get under our desks if the sirens went off, signaling a nuclear war was beginning. Today is today—Christopher Ruffo and others are relevant today, get it? The war has been going on for a long time; get with it buddy. You “A” said nothing new.
I think Chris writes well and has a good grasp of the subjects he writes about. He has quite a following who learn from him and communicate their thoughts in “comments.” He doesn’t assume, I think, he is the “final word” on any topic; and his readers don’t expect that.
You seem to forget that you’re the one constantly on the offensive against others on this thread while extolling your profound understanding of a topic. Of course many phenomena like “Mass Formation” and Totalitarianism were known before such writers like Desmet wrote of them. So what? History and phenomena are looked at repeatedly over centuries but with different interpretations and theories and styles along the way by people of each era. Astronomy interpretations are different today compared to the times of Jesus but curiosity has many people wanting to understand both, without pomposity guiding them. “Readers of Rufo” don’t need your petty comments and criticisms to guide them. Why not invest in your own Substack—with your credentials, titles, publications, educational background—and see what you can attract?
You’re obviously impressed with your knowledge and critical of others’ take on the same subjects; “pompous” comes to mind. Sorry I was confused as to your sex; I will assume you’re an XX female, henceforth.
No one seems to understand or want to come to grips with the Substack business model’s flaw - that most people do not want to spend a hundred dollars or more a month on substacks.
I’m a big S/S fan - there is so much great stuff on S/S. I follow about 60 people, but the previews are getting more and more frustrating, the redundancy is a bother, and then there’s the people you subscribe to who stop writing.
While I’m happy for your success, and Substack’s, I wonder about the possibility of peak S/S, and how S/S seems stacked against the little guy who wants to write.
This is a good question, and we will see. I would think some “bundling” options would be good—allow publications to offer discounts for purchasing both.
I really appreciate your comments and am surprised to hear that you don't think I've written substantive pieces. We did huge, on-the-ground investigations in Springfield, Charleroi, and Aurora. We spent months exposing the DEI apparatus in the federal government in another reported series. And we even caught Kamala Harris committing plagiarism, which drove a national news cycle. Plus: a weekly podcast episode, with transcript, on cultural and political themes.
I find you are one of the best writers here, and always look forward to your work.
Re: the new subscription, I am already a subscriber. Thanks for the discount. My email was missing so maybe you haven’t billed me yet. So does the subscription require a higher level for the podcast?
No doubt about it — I feel I’m a better person, critic and advocate from being a reader, then paid subscriber, to this substack. I worried about the capture of our Western institutions by those who are in it for blatant self-interest or ideological promotion. I felt like a Cassandra — one who foresees danger, prophesizes disaster, but not listened to.
I was involved with the ed reform movement in the 80s when John Holt (homeschooling advocate) was opening people’s eyes to the harms faced in monopoly state systems of education. He went on to say: Today, freedom has different enemies. It must be fought for in different ways. It will take very different qualities of mind and heart to save it.
Currently, with Rufo’s inspirational influences I see a much better future ahead. I am from Canada.
Congratulations! Your journalism skills are real and change-making. I appreciate all of the research that goes into your articles. The information you share can't be found anywhere else and really helps me form opinions on cultural issues. With new ideologies hitting us in the face everyday, you help me navigate through the Truth and the lies. I've quoted your articles when talking to friends about gender and immigration issues and more. Thank you!
Congrats, Chris. You richly deserve the success of both your Substack and, more importantly, your initiatives to tear down the DEI/Woke bureaucracies that sprang up post-Floyd and are sapping the vitality and future success of this country. Best wishes for your continued success, and here's to a quick and sure 250,000 member mark.
Congrats Christopher. Gifted an annual subscription to a family member two months ago, and bought a friend a free month subscription around the same time. One request…Can you keep us updated on the Trump admin? I’m too busy to follow all the nuances in that world.
Christopher, Please take a look at the Dept of Education's $37.7 million fine against Grand Canyon University. It's based on a bogus charge. I guarantee the DOE is threatened by the tremendous success of GCU which is proving you can get an excellent education at a DEI free school. Please have Trump's people look at it. Best, Gordy Halverson. Kingston, WA (grandkids at GCU)
You have not disappointed, Christopher. I rely upon your broad oversight, journalistic forthrightness, and the insights of your specific policy denouements. It has ever been an uphill battle in my adult lifetime against the collective, pre-frontal, victim-warrior indoctrination camps tyrannically self-espoused under the auspices of education, academics.

Tried to edit the above post, but wasn’t able to because I’m not a subscriber ??? Com’on Substack!
Forgot to say: greatly appreciate what you have been doing out in the real world, please keep it up.
I’m a paid subscriber and can’t edit…not sure how editing on SS works. Maybe it’s the iPad?

Yes, a bundle would help. I like and would like to support more, but I can only afford to subscribe to two people right now on Substack.
Besides this one, the other one I support is Tell Me How This Ends by Chris Bray.

Glad you are going to see President-elect Trump to discuss fixing education nationally. It worked in Florida--it can work nationally!
