The Texas House and the Texas Senate have just passed SB 14 which bans Gender Modification on minors. The governor will sign the bill and it will, I think, go into effect on September 1st.

Yes it did. What’s very interesting is that one Democrat legislator, a woman named Shawn Thierry, gave an impassioned speech in favor of this bill, SB 14. One wonders if, sometimes, an occasional Democrat feels a slight wind of change coming and votes against the pack in hopes of being on the right side of history.

The Democrats who take courageous votes for laws like this are disproportionately Black. The Black community has had some relevant past experience with immoral medical procedures being done on them, and hence are more willing to stand up and speak out this time around.

Black people are on the average more socially conservative than "liberal," except on abortion access.
