What? Getting my info from Florida Newspapers and The Hill. He has to compete w/Mississippi, God help us. As I made clear, give me a solid pro choice candidate + sensible re: removing bad DEI policy. There is your 55% winner.

Yes, even Floridal newspapers and The Hill are usually trash.

You may not understand how the vast majority of political journalism works, so I will explain it: if you ever see unsubstantiated "reports" from anonymous sources about something that may or may not occur with an unknown probability at an undefined point in the future, please regard it with the same level of seriousness you would celeb gossip.

Stories get planted all the time to achieve various ends, most commonly in politics/government and business.

Think about it this way: Is DeSantis a dumb man? He is presidential material, and to prove his conservative bona fides he DeSantis passed the 15-week ban. 15-week bans are widely acceptable by most people in the US. What would he have to gain by pushing the subject further? You think he's going to tank his appeal to Independents and moderate Dems? He's a political beast, yes. But dumb, hell no.

I would bet money these are planted stories to make someone like YOU start to doubt him.

Politics is dirty and at times dangerous. Too many Americans make the mistake of believing they can take it all at face value.

Well, lots of politics and stories out there. How about you share your solid source for news?

I have a wide range of sources. My goodness, DeSantis has planned his ascent for decades. That is obvious. He will do whatever he needs to win. I am swing a voter. I suspect you are not. In DeSantis' administration, gone from 24 week ban to 15 week ban. Elections often hinge on swing voters. If he is lucky, Florida legislators will not put this on his desk. Or, maybe he worked it with them, not sign it to look "strong" in the face of pressure.

I share your opinions and feelings about the anti-choice stance the Republicans generally are taking. It will not support the growth and success of the Republican Party. They will remain interlocked with the politicized conservative Christians, and their platform will be based on the beliefs and practices of the fundamentalists. It is depressing.

Prior to the midterm elections Newt Gingrich wrote a few excellent articles about his vision of a successful coalition made up of the normal majority of Americans. He accurately stated that the Republican Party had the chance to welcome the Americans who have been alienated by the leftist extremists, and were seeking a return to shared traditional American values and attitudes.

From my perspective, the Republicans have really blown it, snatching defeat from what could have been big victories, because they are wedded to a religious ideology that is not shared by the majority of Americans. It's sad and discouraging and daunting to be left with two disintegrating political parties that waste our money on investigations against their political rivals, and on attacks on other Americans' civil rights.

You're right, I'm not a swing voter. Mostly for the reasons that Chris presents in this article. The last Dem I voted for was Hillary and I deeply regret it. You wouldn't be a swing voter anymore either if you knew how the Dems really operated.

As for journalists, I focus on journalism from writers & editors with good BS filters. Rufo and Greenwald are two.

Well, we certainly know via the Dominium Lawsuit, Fox has little or no standing. Although I like Bret Bier & Cavuto. I happily voted for Clinton. I do not blindly follow Rufo or Greenwakd, but read and consider them. I tend to follow the money. Both R(s) and D(s) equally problematic. And I will happily vote for a Dem if they are right in my issues. Been voting for 45 years. It helps to have been around for awhile. Cheers.

I understand where you're coming from. You're from a time where politicians were dignified stateman and so you don't understand how the stakes have risen.

You're like my Boomer parents and in-laws who weren't materially affected by the Covid response, which was more severe in blue states, because the young bore the largest cost. You don't see how mandated business closures, school closures, mask mandates, and Covid shot mandates have caused so much destruction. Nor do you have to raise children in an environment where schools are infested with divisive CRT, DEI regimes, and gender ideology. You don't truly understand what's at stake.

I had my children very late in life, Covid affected my children,I live in a blue state, and a close relative is a professor at a posh college. I “hear” your angst. Sharing that, with the hope that, my comments are not that of a Pollyanna. I know the issues at hand. That is why candidates needed who can appeal across constituencies.
