It's always better to "Rip the Band-Aid off" than to pull slowly. Do it, deal with the fallout, and move on. Only way it will get fixed.

Yes and I think Chris's advice about how to wrong-foot the progressive MSM narrative is astute: ie implementing the new anti-DEI policies fast enough for media stories about them to be "part of a single, rather than an ongoing, news cycle".

Mao had slaves, they just didn't realize that's what they were.

“The principle underlying this course of action is simple: America doesn’t need a permanent DEI bureaucracy. America needs an effective administration that treats its citizens in a fair manner without regard to race. This is broadly popular, morally just, and, with this administration, achievable as a public policy for the first time in a generation…” Spot on… DEI and its religious mind virus, wokeism, must be removed from the mainstream and relegated to the historical dustbin of failures, with other forms and permutations of race grifting and Marxism…

Remember - "equity" is not equality - it is discrimination!

Chilblain Edward Olmos's avatar

It’s not even discrimination - it’s racial communism, wherein all races/ identities are equal, however some races/identities are more equal than others.

Donna Wilson's avatar

I totally agree and it is also the most simple way to do this. It isn’t going to be easy but the more simple like this is will work best! I wish the new administration huge success! The returns of success will be great for the people!

If only the constitution had used the term colorblind, perhaps this disasterious detour might have been avoided.

I'm sure you know the founders could have never even imagined such a travesty as the civil rights movement and DEI. They knew who was capable and who was not.

I can only hope they follow this advice. They must fire them immediately. Like within 48 hours before they have a chance to just move around and re-label this nonsense.

Here in NC, UNC was ordered to eliminate DEI by the Board of Governors, but they just moved around and changed their titles. Still there and still destroying.

Speed is important. If they are fired they have no time for subterfuge.

The Real Mary Rose's avatar

They'll absolutely try to rename/rebrand it. They are already trying and indeed, have been, since well before a Trump administration was obvious. This is because they know people hate them. You'd think that would be enough - but it isn't. They still want to thrive because, you know, the haters are just ignorant/racist/etc. It's not that we have common sense or anything.

Shaun's avatar

I think it has a lot to do with the whole scheme being a money-cow. Just a way for lazy "intellectual" people to make a buck without having to do anything that actually contributes to a better society...

Catherine Maxwell's avatar

Abolishing the DEI departments is a good first step, but you're right—there needs to be a plan to keep them from moving around and disguising themselves. I'm curious—what does UNC call it now?

Herodotus II's avatar

Here are some examples to keep an eye out for: "inclusive workforce initiatives," "equity and belonging programs," "cultural competency development," "diversity strategy," "talent optimization initiatives," "people-centric practices," "organizational inclusion efforts," "workplace integration programs," or "balanced representation initiatives."

Keep your eye on the shells, and don't blink!

john peterson's avatar

A bunch of aliases. Sometimes you can’t tell WTH they’re doing. Vague job titles.

Richard Speed's avatar

If they have been fired, they have no POWER to circumvent the new policies. Fire them all immediately. Then fire any who support them. Like cancer, if you don’t remove the ENTIRE tumor, it will grow back.

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

That was my first thought, too! Wouldn't it work to defund and remove all current funds from those departments? Those people should no longer be paid regardless of what they re-label it.

john peterson's avatar

They just get hired in some other department like HR, the Deans office, Hospital admin as a “strategist” etc.

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

Their names should become persona non grata and never get paid again in any capacity.

DEI delenda est. Day one of a new era. The next phase is to pull federal funding from sanctuary cities and demoralized DIEvy League universities who are continuing to push DEI and skirt affirmative action laws. Here is an email from last week that not so subtly winks at non-compliance: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/dievy-league-doubling-down-on-dei-affirmative-action

How are the federal Departments of Justice and Education enforcing the Supreme Court decision? If there is no enforcement, then there is little incentive to comply.

I wish I was surprised the Ivy Leagues are so committed to DEI. Next steps should definitely be closing whatever loopholes they're using to keep promoting this stuff.

Removal of DEI must include the educational system to stop the woke indoctrination at schools. I have seen: New Jersey’s largest teacher convention, led by NJEA President and Democrat gubernatorial candidate Sean Spiller, shockingly became a platform for the Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA)—a group with documented ties to terrorism—to push its Islamic agenda, indoctrinating educators with Sharia principles disguised as inclusivity, and turning America’s public schools into vehicles for Islamic domination and the erasure of Western values. The DEI woke teachers' unions are bringing this into K-12.

Catherine Maxwell's avatar

Yes, the Department of Education should definitely be at the top of the list. If it can't be eliminated, at least use to prevent schools from promoting terrorism.

THAT is the general formula for shaking off totalitarianism. From someone who knows.

Dear Chris,

As a scientist and teacher at Cornell University I am sure that the elimination of DEI (or any other name it may go by) will serve to improve teaching, learning, and scientific research. This will fundamentally occur because the respect for truth is necessary for teaching,, learning, and scientific research.

Thanks,

randy

May I suggest that statements in favor of abolishing DEI refer to the Declaration of Independence, not only as justification, but as a reminder to the American people that we should be reading and understanding our founding documents? Likewise for the 10th and 1st Amendment. Coupling the phrase color blind equality to the meaning of the Declaration is important in the longterm.

Abolish DEI must include all healthcare, health insurances, hospitals, doctors offices, specialty certifications for medical and nursing professionals, any hospital education departments everywhere in the US. Also….I hope this plan includes helping those of us who were FIRED from our jobs for refusing to bow down to gender ideology in healthcare. Administrators made mandatory trainings to include DEI & gender ideology so that if you refused to even use the language, you were fired for refusing to ‘comply.’

Catherine Maxwell's avatar

Yes, hopefully next steps will include all the places you mentioned. It's bad enough to have DEI in hiring—there should absolutely be consequences for firing.

From your lips to their ears. Sadly the fact that the Trump influentials have not formulated a plan indicates planned inaction. It is imperative that the citizens care enough to pay attention and continually demand the destruction of DEI. Thank you for continuing the outcry.

Emanuela Prister's avatar

Who says that they have no plan? I fear that if the Trump administration were to detail their plans now, the embedded DEI bureaucrats everywhere would find a way to entrench and burrow themselves even further in the next 40 days. They know it’s coming!

Elizabeth's avatar

I agree, holding the cards close to the chest is the likely game plan here. I have no doubt that the Trump team has a strategy rooted in swift but legal realignment.

YES : "There is an enormous advantage to acting quickly and aggressively on the first day, when the public is most willing to grant the new administration discretion." IN ADDITION, re point 3 on the leftwing media, there should maybe also be consequences for foreign nations like Qatar and the UK to actively broadcast through Al Jazeera and BBC respectively their anti-US ideology. This tends to percolate down via the left-wing establishment as well.

Rob In Cornwall's avatar

The Marxist captured BBC wreaks huge damage by suffocating vital debate and pumping out poisonous indoctrination.

It's now Public Enemy no.1 in the UK.

Shaun's avatar

One step: deny all Al Jazeera or BBC "journalists" access to US Government information or personnel. Have severe consequences for any government employee who goes rogue. Find and hold accountable those who feed these "news agencies" information on the sly. Don't feed the enemy...

Colorblind equality was honorable and proper objective of the Civil Rights Movement. Colorblind equality is consistent with our Constitution and most, but not all of our laws. “Reverse Discrimination” was a diversion from and perversion of this objective. The DEI Bureaucrats are just Marxist Political Officers in a thin disguise. End this now, root and branch.

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

I don't believe the civil rights movement was ever intended to be colorblind. It's always been a tool to destroy whites.
