This made me realize, when Trump talked about the dogs and cats being eaten, at the debate, I thought it was a surprise to everybody that he said that? How did the moderator immediately have a fact check in mind to debunk what was supposedly a surprise statement, that nobody knew Trump would say that?

Good read.

What frustrates me is when wealthy individuals, like John Legend, give moral guidance from a position of earned privilege that doesn’t reflect the reality on the ground for most people.

It’s easy to talk about compassion, assimilation, and being Christ-like when you’re far removed from the direct consequences of a migrant crisis—like rising crime rates and strained resources.

The same people calling for open arms aren’t living in the neighborhoods feeling the impact, and as we saw with Martha’s Vineyard, they’re quick to turn away migrants when it directly affects them. We need practical solutions, not out-of-touch commentary.
