I have friends, decent, intelligent people, who see all of it and still, come election, will vote for the same Democratic morons who have ruined civilized life in "The City" and other cities in the most beautiful state in the Union. The cognitive dissonance is striking.

I live in MPLS and am pretty much The Token White Guy in the neighborhood. 1 block away there is a halfway house for sexual offenders. Something I've noticed, Houses like this are never put in "Nicer Neighborhoods", always in areas like this.
Considering CA's lax laws regarding sex with minors, it's rather amazing any convicted pedophiles exist in the state.
Most of the nation has no idea, that sex with a minor within 7 years of your age is a misdemeanor in CA. Nor do they realize that an 11 year old sex traffickinng victim, can be waltzed into a hospital for an abortion by her pimp, and as long as she "consents" to the procedure, any healthcare professional that dares contact her parents risks losing their medical license.
The list of insanity is longer, but surely a picture should be forming. There are far better places to be a child than the Golden State.
This needs to be an even longer, deeper piece of reportage. Why are sex offenders getting free housing, and for how long? Aside from the woo-woo described here, what support are they receiving to get jobs and live harm-free lives? Who supervises this apparent pastiche of models for "re-entry"? And most importantly, have there been any documented cases of recidivism with children in areas proximate to their subsidized housing? If not, then "advocates" will seize upon this as evidence of their better angels being trustworthy--even if they're downloading kiddie porn up in their room or (shudder) leering at the family across the street. The mom who reported that gave a good quote/anecdote, but more shoeleather is needed to build the case for menacing behavior in the vicinity of these facilities. Good luck!
Voters who support, elect, and re-elect administrations that facilitate arrangements like these are criminals too. "Did you vote for the people who did this?" Why don't we ever see this line in campaign ads?
As long as residents in the affected areas continue to accept lower standards and the heightened risks to their children nothing will change. As a nation we have normalized so much aberrant behavior that situations like this continue unheeded.

This would all be much easier if California would just keep these people in prison where they belong. Or better yet, six feet underground.
