The vast majority of Dem Californians assume they are immune from the consequences of their votes.
Their ability to ignore the suffering of the homeless and those without the financial resources to protect themselves or just unlucky enough to lose a loved one to the chaos is nearly feudal. 1/3 of the state dwells in poverty or just slightly better. No one cares.
Over the last 10 years the CA home ownership rate has fallen by 10%, yet the change concerns neither politicians or residents, 25% of which are functionally illiterate, in any language. High density apartments, squalor or homelessness are fine for the 1/2 of the state dwelling as serfs, as long as continue to vote Democratic.
It only takes these people to be personally robbed or worse to learn about criminal justice. Unfortunately, they are protected by the taxpayers' paid security.
Los Ángeles is doomed to become a mini failed state. There’s no hope unless the voters rapidly realize what has happened there, and even then, the recovery would, at best, take decades. Which they don’t have.
I'd bet most voters couldn't name three judges on their local ballot, let alone tell you what they believe.
Groups like La Defensa know exactly who they're backing. They recruit candidates, raise money, and get them elected while most voters barely pay attention.
And we're seeing the consequences of ideological battles in the courts. The Supreme Court has repeatedly blocked lower-court restrictions on Trump's policies, leaving serious questions about how judges are interpreting the law.
Judges are supposed to uphold the Constitution, even when they don't like the outcome. When political organizations recruit them to advance an agenda, voters ought to know about it before handing them a seat on the bench.
On New York ballots, we are generally presented with a slate of three candidates, and are instructed to "Select three." Always the same number of candidates as slots.

No prisons is a great idea except where are we going to put the felons? How about adopt-a-felon with LaDefensa being obligated to house or find housing for each felon, which of course includes financial responsibility for them.
So what can be done beyond commenting on a Substack post and getting validation from like minded people?
1. Start attending city council meetings. (voice your concern to counteract the radical voices who are attending these meetings)
2. Get together in person and online (zoom etc..) with like minded neighbors to form a community around reason and the rule of law for the common good (by incarcerating criminals)
3. Get to know who the judges are in the local courts so you can either support or oppose/expose them.
4. Vote Get involved with election integrity groups and have/ join local meetings and incorporate 1 & 2 then we might have a chance to curb the radical ideology from the Fabian Marxist currently infiltrating our legal system in California.
Yes. People can have a lot bigger impact on local politics and their nearby communities. As the political discourse becomes increasingly nationalized, extreme voices have come to dominate local elections because no one is looking.
