Overwhelmed by this necessary story! Thank you for the information here and the tremendous effort to gather the facts and to report. God help us.

Thant is how I feel. I MEAN HUGE .. very scary.. to unpack the salient points.. I will be on this.

Again your research is amazing. You are a God send. I live in Southern California and love it. Newsom is even worse than Jerry Brown. I am doing all I can to support Steve Hilton and even Chad Bianco. We have to have a GOP Governor. Check the salaries of the heads of the non profits who work with Jewish Outreach, Catholic Charities, etc. It is an industry! Where else can a Social Work get a $600K a year salary?

Thank you for your support, Paula!

Astounding. I was just wondering this the other day, why are these states or cities so obsessed with being “sanctuary”, and why do the blue governors push for them? Where does this strategy come from? What is their goal? Chris, you say it’s for “revolution” and to “watch America burn”.. but that gets back to the question I’ve been asking (like many people) over the past several years… what is it about America that they dislike so much? Clearly there’s a disconnect -> they hate what America is and want a “revolution” -> but want to open the gates for people who are coming here for a better life (and use them as pawns as your article states). What’s the deal?

paula yokoyama's avatar

The leaders of these groups want to make money for themselves.

BD's avatar

They want more money and POWER. A revolution gives them more power...at the expense of the people they claim they are trying to help. Of course, these Marxists are just using the illegals.

Mad Dog's avatar

I'd like someone to ask them those questions in some setting where they would be compelled to tell the truth. Perhaps while they're being waterboarded.

Ben F.'s avatar

No kidding, I mean how do we get them to really spill the beans. For some people, I think it’s just for banal and altruistic stuff, like free healthcare and the feeling that the government is going to take care of them. For other people? They seem to think if they can engineer a society that reflects their personality and values then they’ll finally be happy.

Janis Vucelik's avatar

It’s been a long standing belief of Democratic politicians that once you give people welfare you will have them as voters for life. It’s about money and power.

Mad Dog's avatar

Eric Hoffer believed that mass movements often gain momentum when large numbers of people become dissatisfied with their own lives - feeling either worthless despite their comforts or somehow morally tainted by their success. In that state, they can be drawn to causes promising radical change, redemption, or a sense of purpose.

A quote often attributed to him says: “Every great cause begins as a movement, becomes a business, and eventually degenerates into a racket.” He never actually said those exact words, though he expressed ideas in a similar spirit about institutions drifting from their original mission.

Even so, the misattributed quote seems to capture something recognizable in our own time: sincere causes can begin with conviction, become professionalized, and eventually serve the interests of those who run them more than the ideals that inspired them.

—what is it about America that they dislike so much?

When you consider this thing we call "Leftism", from Rousseau to Marx to Lenin to our modern progressives, they all have the same needs, goals and belief systems (more or less): What they hate about America so much is that they don't have complete and total power to rule it, and all else is a campaign to achieve and solidify it.

Leftism is always a project launched by disaffected intellectuals and other charlatans and opportunists who believe they've been divinely chosen to socially engineer in the name of Justice and Equality and that they deserve to mold and fit us all to their precise specifications, while also being allowed to attack and/or kill off their enemies.

It is a will-to-power campaign poorly concealed behind sentimental humanitarianism and always comes down to the same formula: if we destroy enough and make people hate each other, we can seize total power.

Roger Scruton makes the point better:

"It is not the truth of Marxism that explains the willingness of intellectuals to believe it, but the power that it confers on intellectuals, in their attempts to control the world. And since, as Swift says, it is futile to reason someone out of a thing that he was not reasoned into, we can conclude that Marxism owes its remarkable power to survive every criticism to the fact that it is not a truth-directed but a power-directed system of thought."

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

It is n't really a dislike of America---It's laziness (won't learn the actual facts); ignorance (poor education) and the hope for free stuff forever. But eventually...they run out of --other people's money.

The leaders of the scam aas well as the recipients can't think ahead--they only care about their "goodies" and power TODAY.

Sherry 1's avatar

I think it is an industry created to get easy taxpayer money (NGO), to buy votes (politicians) even illegals can vote, we have seen the cheat, and also they hate America, as the article explains. My question is, if they hate America why don’t they move to Cuba?

Beverly's avatar

Easy money here.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

YES YES YES __It is an INDUSTRY --- The heads get rich and money goes back to the politicians who give out the money.

Evil Incarnate's avatar

A lot of their hate for America is driven by activists, funded by Soros and others like him, aided by Ministry of Truth-aligned media, getting people to believe lies.

There are dozens of examples. The one I like to use is the belief that police in America are hunting down and killing young black men. The idea is so pervasive even lot of conservative-leaning people believe there's some truth to it. If you ask them how many unarmed black males are killed by police each year, they'd estimate hundreds or perhaps thousands. The reality? Around a couple of dozen. And that number is overstated b/c many of those deaths happen when the assailant is "unarmed" - using an automobile as a weapon, or attempting to take an LEO's sidearm from him. Remember Michael Brown? Hands up don't shoot? He reached into a police vehicle through the driver's window and was trying to wrest the officer's sidearm from him. Trayvon Martin? George Floyd? Jacob Blake? All were the source of lies saying the police are intent on killing black males.

A couple of dozen deaths per year of unarmed black men is too many. But it's not anywhere close to the exaggerated number most people have been led to believe.

This is just one example. The lies making people believe they're treated unfairly or wrongly by The Man, or if you prefer, the system, are pervasive.

ADM's avatar

The lies like this are taught in schools, repeated by MSM and on social media so that young people believe it. They seem to have no ability to connect what goes on in the real world & use it to counter what they are told. I've talked to minorities who think that if they go to the middle of the country from the coasts they'll be followed & harassed by racist whites. Then they go, nothing happens, but they interpret the slightest look or whatever as racist, it's toxic, frankly.

Pamela Christiansen's avatar

250 million to Catholic Charities. That ends my contributions to the Church.

Roger Beal's avatar

Now have a look at ELCA - Lutheran social services.

Sherry 1's avatar

I wonder how much of that Billion $$ gets kicked back to Newsom et all and how many illegal alien votes it buys. This is an industry, same as the homeless, nothing gets resolved but thousands of people are benefitting from taxpayer money going to NGO’s. It is a crime and they should all be shut down.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

Don't wonder---LOTS!

Mary Grande's avatar

It's difficult to understand why citizens of a country would want to undermine the country they live in, the country that provides them with a living, home, support.

But leaving that aside it is about the money. Rest assured much of that money funneled to those organizations ends up in the pockets of the organizers, activists, officials in one way or another. Never believe that humanitarianism is their cause.

Clever Pseudonym's avatar

—America is evil and needs to be destroyed! But everyone on earth should be allowed to move and live here and never leave!

Something tells me that the first statement is more wish than fact and the second is about making the first come true.

dennis mcconaghy's avatar

What could possibly motivate Newsome to have identified with "open borders" ?

Does he actually believe that unlawful immigration is tenable?

And more to the point, does any Democrat have any other position other than Newsome's that is a serious contender for the Democratic nomination in 2028?

Ben F.'s avatar

Well so far they’ve basically been coasting on a “resist Trump” message.. and now it’s morphing into a “tax the wealthy!” thing. “If only we can get our claws into the top 1% coffers then we can finally make society work better.” This stuff is nuts. Talk about falling so so short of better ideals. How about a campaign on managing our tax dollars better and with more transparency! Nope! How irresponsible of these politicians.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

ABsolutely no understanding of basic economics. There is no such thing as "free stuff" Somebody always PAYS. In most of these cases it sounds like the honest, hard-working tax payers.

dennis mcconaghy's avatar

Agreed but why woud a man like Newsome want to degrade his state into a leftist horror?

And why do the rick in California fund this horror?

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

Newsome is a shallow, self-centered, power hungry person. He doesn't care about "his state"---only himself. His narcissism is on steroids.

Just because someone is "rich" does not mean they are smart! Also , the wealthy live in enclaves, never see the misery that the useless "utopian" ideas bringand are not affected by everyday concerns like buying groceries.

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

Newsome's a worthless stooge for the communist cabal and is enjoying watching the country fall. He's paid well and that's all that matters.

Evil Incarnate's avatar

C'mon dennis.

Some wit said, if a man's livelihood depends on the sun rising in the west, he'll argue the sun rises in the west.

Newsom's livelihood depends on open borders. It sounds crazy I know, but he's truly a believer-he's convinced himself open borders make the world a better place.

There are plenty of others just like him.

BD's avatar

It's not just Newsome. It is the entire democrat party machine in the US. Why do you think biden opened the borders for 4 years. The dems saw what the party did in CA, and decided that was their way gain total power over the entire country.

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

Newsome's a worthless stooge for the communist cabal and is enjoying watching the country fall. He doesn't have a noble bone in his body and doesn't care that open borders are destroying Western civilization. He's paid well and that's all that matters.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

Dwnnis, Dennis, Dennis....It's a power grab--- Every time Newsome has won an elected office , he eyes the next step up the ladder.

BD's avatar

Of course he believes that unlawful immigration is tenable. It is what has given his party dictatorial powers in CA. And the democrats want to export that to the entire US.

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

I know I don't have to tell you that Newsome and others of his ilk aren't motivated by anything noble. He doesn't care that illegal, third-world parasites (not immigrants) destroy everything. Newsome's a worthless stooge for the communist cabal and is enjoying watching the country fall. He's paid well and that's all that matters.

dennis mcconaghy's avatar

Why does CNN not report this?

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

They're the same...stooges for the communist cabal. Communism will soon be our lifestyle. It's already here in many ways.

Andrew Devlin's avatar

I always reached deep in my pockets when Catholic Charities had their appeals in my church. That stopped a couple of years ago when it became apparent that they were assisting illegal immigrants at the southern border. There is nothing remotely Christian or Catholic about breaking laws meant to protect our country!

Roger Beal's avatar

Please share your story with your Lutheran neighbors - ELCA's social programs are hardly different than those of Catholic Charities.

Mary Grande's avatar

The Democrats Hate this Country. Hate Capitalism. They want One Party, their Party to be In Control of the People. They want to be in Complete Control of every aspect of our Lives.

Dave Campbell's avatar

The last paragraph says it all… From this perspective, the 2 million illegal migrants in California are pawns—merely the instruments of an activist class that would like to see America burn. I despise the fact that taxpayer money is used for such unscrupulous purposes. If the US burns, CA will be one of the first places to go. Strange how there is apparently millions of people working to this end.

Science is Political 2.0's avatar

excellent article I saw you.. Christopher Rufo on tv talking about Gavin Newsome. I was really stunned when I realized HOW TOTALLY LEFT WING AND ANTI AMERICAN and RADICALIZED the people you are quoting are. "Chang said people “living with HIV are not barred from entering the United States on that basis." OMG. HIV is so serious. We cannot afford to allow HIV INFECTED people into this country.. and then there is Catholic Charity.. sadly. I have been to San Deigo many times in the past,, and the last time I was there 2012 even Coronado.. looked scruffy. YEARS AGO I went to Tijuana when visiting my in laws who lived on Coronads (RIP. to them both) and it was really beautiful there.. THERE MANY IMPORTANT POINTS made in this post. WOW. THANK YOU.

Why is newsom not being tried as a traitor?

Frans Susan Phillips Duncan's avatar

There are so many others that fit that description, too. Biden, Harris, Pelosi, Fauci, Omar, Walz, and on and on. I'd like to know the same thing...why are we not seeing these worthless turds locked up? Our history is full of those working against the republic. I think Lincoln was a traitor because he fomented the war between the states.

Elizabeth Rome's avatar

That the "peceful protests" as well as the aggressivce atacks on ICE are fully coordinated and paid for by the hate-America people is blatently obvious. Thisis also an important poiint to keep stating
