It was like the devil's verskon of the rapture here, with women who seemed straight as an arrow oding in the bathroom at work or whilse shopping and later you find out they died from the drugs no one even suspected they were taking...some bathrooms in the Huntington region were closed at work sites permanently becasue the work staff who were innocents were so traumatised by finding a colleague or a boss dead. I am not kidding nor amI exaggerating. And this all pales nex to fentanyl...
Most of the geographic locals who sell on the street and backwater areas "front lines" directly to addicts use the products they sell and are paid in product. Most of the dealers can be, as they were in DREAMLAND aliens from other cultures who do not use the product themselves but must be effective in sales from which they earn cash, and also able to take the front line hits of drug busts etc without selling out those from whom they rent turf or are paying off for the long trip to USA sales territory controlled by same.
This was NOT in DREAMLAND but it is the case nationally and was CERTAINLY the case in the Appalachian region where it wsas written from Quinones'OWN experiential knowlege research and writerly prowess, and he took it very far. If he had taken it any fiurthe r he might have been disappeared or met with an accident NO JOKE, NO PARANOID FANTASY.
But this entire region still writhes, after now 20 years from the loss of 2 generations of once not only viable but actually autonomous young country kids who had many skills talents dreams and cacpacities that would have in an earluer day made them successful in legitmate work . WHat happened to them is indescribably shattering. It was even worse than the wreckage of crack and cocaine and AId when it was a terminal disease in NYC.
And of course what happened to them happened to countless adults, many of them hard woring healthy loving family folks and many of all income levels inducted into living hell by their "physicians" and the pain management paradigm that feeds catastrophic disease of individuals and communities and institutions and agencies that perpetuate it.
i wonder when we will awaken and acatually understand that we can in fact and MUST restore health to our broken communities ' people broken by addiction spawned by people who are profiting from enslaving and killing our most precious resource our good humans.
There are so MANY ways to heal this and in so doing model a future that is built upon a rreturn to the great values that are inculcated in any thriving society that prizes and works towrss its ideal by valuing its young people and at risk families enough to protect and strengthen them...
95% of West Virginians owned their own homes here when i Came at the tirn of the millennium. Now in my cou nty lone for alost two decades 74% of the children do not live with either biological parent. Many live with their grandarents who will predictably die well before they have been able to raise thescombine to e kids to fruition. It is hellacious when you add on the additional risk factors that combine to sink individuals and families unless beneficial factors reduce the risk.
Sorry to go on and on but there need to be consciousness-raising seminars all about this, not a bunch of billionaire funded affluenzic wealth insulate rich kids moseying arouns as tools of those who are actively trying to destroy us and succeeeding..
These kids could be effective bridges and so could caring adults but they MUST stop the hating on both side of the socio-political divide and the LIES (which are almost entirely on the Left whose hippidom led them to flawed concepts about how to help and causes thm to exacerbate the decline. It seems that you guys missed the part where the ACLU sued the county for being racist on account of the many arrests for marijuana growth that were more prevalent among Asians. The county settled in order to avoid the costs associated with defending themselves against the suit.
It was assumed the county was targeting Asians and not pollution and filth.
